PANS/PANDAS Federal Funding Updates

FY2026 PRMRP Funding Now Open – PANS/PANDAS Eligible for Application

The FY2026 Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP), administered through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), is currently open for applications. PANS and PANDAS remain eligible topic areas under the FY2026 program.

In the FY2026 Program Announcement, PANS/PANDAS are listed within the Autoimmune Disorders and Immunology portfolio and are also referenced in Neuroscience and Mental Health-related sections, reflecting their neuroimmune and neuropsychiatric relevance.

Investigators may apply through the standard PRMRP mechanisms, provided the proposed research aligns with the PANS/PANDAS topic area and PRMRP strategic goals. Applications are submitted through the eBRAP system. Pre-application deadlines vary by award, with a few key deadlines in July 2026.

FY2026 PRMRP Funding Opportunity Announcement

The FY2026 Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP), administered through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) within the Department of Defense, includes Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcus (PANDAS) as eligible topic areas in its recent pre-announcement.

This inclusion represents a meaningful development in federal research priorities and reflects growing recognition of neuroimmune and infection-associated neuropsychiatric conditions within competitive research funding pathways.

At this stage, this is a pre-announcement only. Funding opportunity announcements (FOAs), including application instructions and deadlines, have not yet been released.

Early planning and collaboration are strongly encouraged.
