PPN AWARDS GRANT FOR PROMISING RESEARCH

PANDAS Physicians Network is pleased to announce a grant for promising research is awarded to Chandra Menendez, Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, for her work identifying a pathophysiological mechanism in PANDAS/PANS and differentiating the subtypes of neurologic sequelae associated with Group A Streptococcal infections. Her breakthrough work distinguishes the neurological signaling functions of autoantibodies targeting the dopamine receptors influencing movement and neuropsychiatric disorders. This research will increase the understanding of autoantibody activation of receptors and biomarkers of disease. We celebrate the continued excellence from the Cunningham Lab and congratulate Dr. Menendez on her accomplishments.
