PANS/PANDAS Federal Funding Update

The FY2026 Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP), administered through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) within the Department of Defense, includes Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcus (PANDAS) as eligible topic areas in its recent pre-announcement.

This inclusion represents a meaningful development in federal research priorities and reflects growing recognition of neuroimmune and infection-associated neuropsychiatric conditions within competitive research funding pathways.

At this stage, this is a pre-announcement only. Funding opportunity announcements (FOAs), including application instructions and deadlines, have not yet been released.
