PANS Research Consortium: Treating PANS/PANDAS
Treatment guidelines developed by the PANS/PANDAS Research Consortium are available in the 2017 Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology. The guidelines address:
- Antimicrobials and secondary prophylaxis
- Immunomodulating therapies based on symptom severity
- Management of symptoms while simultaneously addressing the instigating processes (which includes infections and inflammatory disease)
Along with JCAP’s 2015 publication of the Consensus Statement and diagnostic guidelines, physicians and medical professionals have the tools needed to evaluate and treat their PANDAS and PANS patients.
